The company Cassel Messtechnik GmbH – with headquarters in Dransfeld near Hanover – has successfully launched a new reject mechanism for metal detectors located after thermoforming machines. The IFS-conform machines unite highest detection performance with all-time short design in connection with fully automatic sorting of metal contaminated thermoforming packages irrespective of tool sizes and cut-off lengths.
Even when dealing with ascending systems, the new metal detection system ensures that the product is transported and sorted out according to the strict hygienic standards of the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
The METAL SHARK systems are self-monitoring and support the quality assurance with fully automatic documentation. Food producers using a METAL SHARK do not have to worry about the next audit.
Discounters demand their food producers to install a consistent quality control for goods in self-service packages.
The integration of metal detectors in existing production lines is difficult because frequently only very little space is available. Up to now one has had two possibilities: working with personnel-intensive belt stop systems or accepting very long conveyors up to about 2500 mm to push out the whole cut-off length (tool 4.4 with packages 200 mm). The new systems only need 1500 mm of conveyor length when dealing with a conveyor width of 600 mm. They are readily installed and can quickly be integrated in existing lines.
