Function

Metal detector METAL SHARK® BD is used free-standing or combined with conveyor belts or chutes. Using 3D detection technology, it detects the smallest magnetic and non-magnetic metal contaminants (iron, stainless steel, aluminium etc.) precisely and reliably even under difficult conditions.

The robust, closed stainless steel housing is easy to clean and therefore ideally suited to the food industry.

Accessories & Extras

The METAL SHARK® BD can be perfectly adapted to your production by various special designs and accessories. Different temperature or hygiene requirements are taken into account as well as complicated product requirements for metal detection.

For your audit reliability, a Performance Verification Certificate can be issued by CASSEL service technicians during commissioning or maintenance.

3D-detection
Additional photocells and upgraded control software (BOOST FACTOR) enable accurate evaluation during the detection period of each item inspected (MultiPhase).
Multi-frequency
Provides selection of four different frequencies, resulting in significantly increased performance in situations where product variations occur (density, location/position, temperature, etc.).
Temperature extension cold
Temperature range extended to -40°C (-40° F), resin seals remain elastic at low temperatures. Special insulation, heated enclosure and other features.
Temperature extension hot
Temperature range extended to +55° C, (+131° F), adapted enclosure, additional thermal insulation, replaceable filter fan, heat exchanger and/or active cooling units.
High temperature extension for goods inspected
Goods temperature up to +120°C (248° F) max. This option provides IP54 grade enclosure for the sensor.
LPW/HPW
IP enclosure upgrade through adapted sensor seal, installation of additional seals and dual housing for the controller electronics.
Signalling devices (optical/acoustic)
Stacking lights and signal horns/sirens available in different versions and IP protection classes.
Control unit
The control unit is mounted on the sensor as standard, wall mounting is also possible.
Twinhead version
To overcome the orientation effect, whereby conductive or magnetic contaminants run parallel to their respective fields, a special twinhead version is available. Two metal detectors at a 90° angle to one-another offset to ensure metal detection even in such cases.
UltraSens model
Fast Power Drive (FPD) significantly enhances metal detection and reliability in industrial environments that fail to comply with pertinent electromagnetic compatibility standards. Available with a range of enclosure grades.
Ferrous in Foil model
Special version for detecting magnetic metals packaged in aluminum-coated foils or aluminum trays.
SHARKNET®
The SHARKNET® software connects METAL SHARK® metal detectors with a central computer, providing centralized storage of all operating data plus batch and alarm documentation for HACCP and IFS compliance.
Performance Verification Cerficate
Issue of a Performance Verification Certificate (proof of functionality for audits) by CASSEL service technicians, e.g. during commissioning or maintenance possible.
BRC-Kit
With the optional BRC kit, the device meets the requirements of the Global Standard of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) for food safety and thus also the established and generally recognized standards for HACCP and IFS.

Description

CASSEL′s metal detector BD, typically mounted onto conveyor belts, includes readily adjustable settings to ensure high sensitivity, stability and reliability. A variety of reject mechanisms (flap or transversal pusher, air gun, belt stop and alarm, etc.) is available to alert operators of a “find” or to divert contaminated products. The conveyor belt, framing and controls are made with sanitary designs for food grade process applications.

CASSEL metal detectors can be easily adjusted for the best product inspection tasks even under harsh environmental conditions or for conductive products.

The METAL SHARK® BD is generally used for frozen products, candy, bread, cakes and pastries, fish, meat, ready-to-serve meals and many more. It is enclosed in a 100% stainless steel housing unit and is specifically designed for use in the food industry.

HACCP and IFS compliance:

Per HACCP principles, Metal Detectors are classified as critical control points and continuous checking is required to meet standards. If requested, Cassel can integrate a performance validation system (PVS) which automatically prompts the operator to test Metal Detector performance at pre-set intervals.

Operational history:

Metal contaminant detections, changes in parameter settings and other events are recorded with the date and time. Users can view the list of “incidents” on the control panel or export the log via a serial port.

Ready for SHARKNET® software:

To comply with HACCP and IFS standards, SHARKNET® enables automatic downloading of data documentation to a Windows-based PC.

LPW option for low-pressure wash-up (IP67):

To obtain the IP67 rating, the METAL SHARK® controller can be housed in a double-thick stainless steel enclosure. This upgrade allows for wash-up with a low-pressure water hose.

HPW option for high-pressure wash-up (IP69k):

To obtain the IP69k rating, the aperture can be specially sealed to prevent leaks and the METAL SHARK® controller can be housed in a double-thick stainless steel enclosure. Daily wash-ups with a steam hose at a maximum pressure of 60 bar/900 psi can be handled. This feature benefits manufacturers in industries where frequent wash downs are required, such as in meat-processing industries.

option LPW pour lavage basse pression (IP67): Pour obtenir l’indice de protection IP67, le contrôleur METAL SHARK® peut être logé dans un boîtier en acier inoxydable double épaisseur. Cette mise à jour permet le lavage avec un tuyau d’eau à basse pression.

Option HPW pour lavage haute pression (IP69k): Pour obtenir la cote IP69k, l’ouverture peut être spécialement scellée pour empêcher les fuites et le contrôleur de SHARK® METAL peut être logé dans un boîtier en acier inoxydable double épaisseur.
