What is Teach Assist for Metal Detectors?
Definition: A process and set of algorithms used on the teach signals to optimize metal detector setup. This process also makes setup much easier by not forcing the user to make choices that may be difficult to understand without analyzing all of the teach data.
Explanation: Teach Assist is an automatic helper during teach that utilizes all the signals for the products passed through the aperture. It sets attenuation (big product signals) or amplification (small product signals) and selects the maximum signal at each point in the aperture to determine the teach area. Finally, because teach sample products do not always represent the full product variation possible, there is a product type selection that sets the tightness/looseness of the teach area to accommodate the type of product being run.
Benefits: This process removes a lot of the guesswork and time from teaching a metal detector by adding intelligence behind the scenes. Multiple adjustments and manual optimization are no longer needed, resulting in a stable but highly sensitive setup.
