What is XIA Software?
Definition: X-ray Image Analysis (XIA) software is included in each CASSEL Inspection X-ray inspection system and provides many different functions to enhance and analyze an image to detect contaminants or verify product integrity. Designed over many years by evaluating thousands of product and contaminant types, this versatile software can optimize detection and inspection performance in a broad range of applications.
Explanation: All X-ray systems generate grayscale images by passing X-rays through a product as it travels through a beam. Inspection is performed using proprietary software that enhances and analyzes the image in several ways. To prepare an image for inspection, the XIA software can mask out package edges and adjust brightness and contrast. If needed, an image can be smoothed. Optional functions include enhancing density and filtering out unwanted artifacts that may appear in the image after inspection. Once a high-quality, clean image is generated, fully adjustable small, medium, and large size detection filters are available to identify contaminants. For special detections like wires, a line filter is included. Finally, if the user wants to verify the integrity of a product, additional software tools are available to check things like conformity, seal quality, product count, and fill level. The CASSEL Inspection XIA software includes a complete set of image generation, enhancement, and analysis tools focused on delivering the highest performance possible.
Benefits: The performance of an X-ray image depends on the quality of the image generated and the flexibility/capability of the software analyzing that image. The XIA software, developed over many years by CASSEL Inspection software engineers, includes all the functions needed to achieve the highest level of product quality assurance over a broad range of applications. Users are never left wishing they had some way to detect quality issues in their products they can clearly see in an x-ray image.
